Why abm Spheroid & Organoid Medium Kits?
Serum-free & chemically defined
Eliminates batch-to-batch variability inherent to serum-containing formulations for reproducible results from experiment to experiment.
Xeno-free compatible
No animal-derived serum components in the formulation, helping reduce biological noise and support translational model development.
Matched cell line system
Designed and validated alongside abm’s own immortalized cell lines to help streamline model setup.
Performance-tested per lot
Every lot is validated for spheroid / organoid formation before release.
From 2D to 3D in 5 easy steps
Move from conventional 2D cell culture to organ-specific 3D spheroid and organoid workflows using a simple, ready-to-use medium kit format.

Product Portfolio
Select from four organ-specific medium kits developed for validated spheroid and organoid formation workflows.
Lung CAF Spheroid Medium Kit
Bronchial Epithelial Organoid Medium Kit
CK7 positive bronchial epithelial organoids generated with TM601Optimized for bronchial and tracheal epithelial cells, including COPD models. Organoids express functional lung markers P63, Cytokeratin 7, and Cytokeratin 20, confirming epithelial lineage in 3D culture.
Breast Cancer Organoid Medium Kit
Vimentin positive breast cancer organoids generated with TM602Validated across five breast cancer subtypes, including TNBC, HER2+, and ER+ models. Tumoroid formation occurs in as little as 7 days, with Pan-CK and Vimentin co-expression confirmed.
Brain Tumor Organoid Medium Kit
Nestin strong-positive brain organoids generated with TM603Serum-free medium supporting glioblastoma, astrocytoma, and neuroblastoma spheroid formation. U251N cells form well-defined spheroids by Day 3 and compact aggregates by Day 7, with Nestin strong-positive staining confirmed.

FAQ
What is the difference between a spheroid and an organoid?
Spheroids and organoids are both 3D cell culture systems, but they differ significantly in complexity and biological relevance.
Spheroids are relatively simple 3D aggregates of cells, typically one or a few cell types that self-assemble into a sphere-like structure. They are valued for their 3D microenvironment, including oxygen and nutrient gradients, cell-cell contact, and ECM interactions compared to 2D monolayers. Common examples include tumour spheroids used in oncology drug screening.
Organoids are more complex, self-organizing 3D structures derived from stem cells, either pluripotent or adult tissue-resident, that recapitulate the architecture, cell-type diversity, and functional properties of a real organ or tissue.
What are CAFs?
Cancer-associated fibroblasts are stromal cells that become activated within the tumour microenvironment. They are distinct from normal fibroblasts because they are reprogrammed by tumour-secreted signals to remodel the extracellular matrix, secrete pro-tumourigenic growth factors, suppress anti-tumour immune responses, and promote cancer cell invasion, survival, and drug resistance.
