Name Recombinant Human Artemin (ARTN) (E. coli)
Description Artemin is a disulfide-linked member of the glial cell line-derived homodimeric neurotrophic factor (GDNF) family which all signal via a multicomponent receptor system composing of a high-affinity binding component (GFRα1-4) and a common signalling receptor tyrosine kinase (RET). Artemin prefers the receptor GFRα3-RET, but will use the others as an alternative. Artemin promotes the survival and growth of peripheral and central neurons, including dopaminergic neurons in the mid-brain; and plays an important role in the development of sensory and sympathetic neurons.
Organism Human (H. sapiens)
Unit quantity 20 µg
Family TGF-beta Super-family
Aliases ART, ENOVIN, EVN, NBN
Gene Symbol ARTN
Gene ID 9048
Accession Number Q5T4W7
Source E. coli
Species Human (H. sapiens)
Appearance Lyophilized Powder
Molecular Weight 12.2 kDa
Endotoxin Level <1.0 EU/µg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method
Purity >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Formulation Lyophilized from a 0.2 µm filtered 10mM sodium citrate pH-4.5 and 25mM sodium chloride solution
Function The ED50 as determined by its binding ability in a functional ELISA (using SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cells), is 4-16 ng/mL
Reconstitution A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in sterile distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Storage The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70°C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8°C for one month, or at -20°C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Usage For research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
